Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that Danny Simpson could be offered a new contract at the club.
The defender, who is expected to leave the Magpies in the summer, has made two appearances this year after falling behind Davide Santon and Mathieu Debuchy in the pecking order at St James' Park.
"I sort of tipped him off that he's got a good chance of being involved this week, and he's worked really hard," Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle.
"He's in an unfortunate position in terms of his contract, so he's very hungry to get a new one, whether it's here or somewhere else."
Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic have all been linked with moves for Simpson in recent months.
