Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that he will not give up on the possibility of signing Loic Remy on a permanent basis.

Remy's performances for the club during a season-long loan spell from Queens Park Rangers have reportedly attracted interest from a number of teams, but Pardew believes that there is a chance the French forward will sign for the Magpies in the summer.

"I think we've got a chance of keeping him and because I'm a positive person, I'd like to think it's a good chance," the Newcastle boss told reporters.

"He's had a good year here and is a good fit for this club.

"He wears the famous number nine shirt and it wears well on him."

Remy is expected to be involved against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.
