Newcastle United's new signing Jack Colback reportedly tried to orchestrate a late move to West Ham United after leaving Sunderland for the club's North-East arch rivals.
The 24-year-old completed a free transfer to St James' Park on Monday after rejecting an opportunity to stay with the Black Cats.
However, according to The Mirror, the move was held up for two weeks after Colback's representatives told Newcastle that he had a change of heart and wanted to join West Ham.
It is believed that the Newcastle hierarchy insisted that the transfer was agreed, although they did offer to sell Colback to the Hammers for £5m, which was rejected.
