Newcastle United have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley this summer.
The 28-year-old has also been linked with Fulham and Blackburn Rovers.
According to The Mirror, Magpies boss Alan Pardew is keen to acquire the services of the full-back, who can operate on either flank.
It is believed that Newcastle have made "tentative inquiries" in the last couple of days.
