Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing CSKA Moscow attacker Alan Dzagoev when the January transfer window opens.
The Magpies have struggled in the Premier League this season, despite head coach Steve McClaren having significant funds to spend in the summer window.
It is understood that the Newcastle board will once again make money available in the winter window, and according to The Mirror, McClaren has earmarked Dzagoev as the player to help his team move clear of the relegation zone.
The Russian, who has been at CSKA since 2008, could apparently be signed for a figure in the region of £10m.
The 25-year-old has made more than 250 appearances for his current club in all competitions and is also just two caps away from 50 for his nation.
