Atalanta BC's Robin Gosens has admitted he considered making a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

The German had been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League throughout last month, but the wing-back ultimately chose a move to Inter Milan on loan instead.

However, the finances that were offered from the Magpies is something that did tempt the 27-year-old to apply his trade at St James' Park, but he went against that.

"I find it very human to think about it. If you can earn a multiple for the same job in a different locations, show me someone who just says 'no thanks' to that," Gosens told Kicker.

"It is not just about me. I could probably have secured a few generations of my family with this money."

In the end, Newcastle signed both Dan Burn and Matt Targett on transfer deadline day in order to provide further defensive cover for the squad. body check tags ::
