Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has admitted that he is concerned about the future of midfielder Matty Longstaff beyond the end of the season.
The 19-year-old's current contract is due to expire in June and he has been linked with a move away from St James' Park amid speculation of interest from some of the Premier League's top clubs.
The Magpies are desperate to keep hold of their homegrown talent, but Bruce admits that he is still worried about Longstaff being lured away from his boyhood club.
"I'm sure there are people in his ear, so of course the situation is a concern," Bruce told reporters.
"But he knows what I think of him and I keep reminding him how many other 19-year-olds have played in the Premier League this year.
"I speak to him regularly and will continue to do so. He knows how much the club wants him to stay."
Longstaff has made 13 first-team appearances for Newcastle this season, scoring three goals including the winner against Manchester United on his debut in October.
