Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote has calmed fears of an impending departure by claiming that he wants to stay with the Magpies.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a transfer from the Sports Direct Arena due to a number of clubs reportedly interested in luring the Ivorian away from the North East.
"I'm a Newcastle player, my future is at Newcastle," Tiote told the Evening Chronicle. "I'm playing for Newcastle and I have to finish this season strongly and help the team get into Europe.
"If we do that, it will be good for the club and the fans. We are in a great position now."
Tiote joined the Premier League outfit from FC Twente in 2010.
