FIFA have announced that Franz Beckenbauer has been provisionally banned from taking part in football-related activity for 90 days.
The former Germany player and manager will be unable to be involved with the game at any level after failing to cooperate in the investigation into alleged corruption at FIFA.
The sanction was made after the 68-year-old refused to speak to ethics prosecutor Michael Garcia, who attempted to contact him twice last week, according to PA.
The investigation is in relation to FIFA's decision to award Russia and Qatar the 2018 and 2022 World Cups respectively.
Beckenbauer, who won the global tournament as a player and manager, is an advisor to the world governing body's football committee.
