AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell took to the pitch after his team’s 3-0 loss at home to Chesterfield to confront fans who were voicing their displeasure at the way he runs the club.
Mitchell headed to disgruntled fans with a microphone in hand and launched into a rant.
"The lad in the leather jacket whose eyes seem to be popping out of his head. Why don’t you jump over the fence and come and have a chat with me?" he said to one particularly frustrated fan.
"Obviously you don’t want to listen to me. Where is your pride? Are you frustrated with the team we’ve got? Tell me, are you frustrated because we lost today?"
Mitchell was surrounded by stewards and was jeered by the crowd throughout the tirade, before being led back towards the tunnel.
He later denied that the situation was a confrontation, and insisted that he simply wanted to converse with the fans.
The chairman could face an FA charge for his actions.
