The first of the seven FIFA officials being held in custody in Switzerland has been extradited to the United States on corruption charges.
Fourteen people were indicted earlier this year for allegedly receiving or accepting bribes of more than $100m (£60m) between the 1990s to the present day.
Exactly half of those individuals were made the subject of a formal request of extradition by the USA to the Swiss Federal Office of Justice.
It has now been confirmed by the Swiss authorities that the first extradition process, believed to surround shamed vice-president Jeffrey Webb, took place on Wednesday.
Webb, it is claimed, will now face a New York court hearing.
