Jimmy Quinn leaves Nantwich Town

Former Northern Ireland international Jimmy Quinn leaves his post as Nantwich Town manager by mutual agreement, following a run of 11 defeats in 12 games.

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfit Nantwich Town have parted company with manager Jimmy Quinn by mutual agreement.

The former Northern Ireland international, who took charge at the Weaver Stadium in March 2011, guided the Dabbers to the first round of the FA Cup last season and also lifted the Cheshire Senior Cup during his reign.

However, following last night's 3-1 defeat to Curzon Ashton, Nantwich have lost 11 of their last 12 matches.

While chairman Jon Gold is grateful to Quinn for the success that he has brought to the club, he believes that it is now time for a change of direction.

"Unfortunately results this season, especially at home, have been very disappointing and well below the expectations of both the board and our supporters," said Gold.

"We are extremely appreciative of the contribution that Jimmy has made to our club and I know the successes that he and the team delivered last season, in qualifying for the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history and also in winning the Cheshire Senior Cup, will live long in the memory of every Nantwich Town supporter.

"But sadly this season's results have failed to replicate this, or offer the stability needed for the future development and success of the club."

Quinn, whose previous managerial appointments include spells at Reading, Swindon, Shrewsbury and Bournemouth, led Nantwich to 38 wins, 24 draws and 42 defeats in all competitions.

Assistant manager Phil Staley will now take charge of the first team on a temporary basis.
