Mick McCarthy has said he believes Wolves's Premiership survival will hang in the balance until the final game of the season.

The Midlands side - currently one from bottom with three games to play - next face rivals West Brom at Molineux on Sunday.

"We will get all that nonsense (about Albion sending Wolves down) - and it is nonsense because if we win the last two games everything will be hunky-dory," McCarthy told the club's official website. "We could win the next three, we could draw two and win one and stay up - I don't know what it's going to take.

"The game won't decide anything - unless we win it. I don't doubt for one moment that if we win it we will stay up. I think we will anyway, but if we win this game we will go into our last two with far more confidence.

"We'll have had an away draw and a home win - but we've got to do it. Wishing it and thinking is one thing - doing it is completely different against a team in form."

Albion are currently 11th on 43 points and are virtually assured a return season in the Premiership.
