Michel Platini has backed plans to stage the 2022 World Cup in Qatar during the winter.
The UEFA chief also admitted that he may tinker with the European club competition schedule – a move which is unlikely to be warmly received.
"If we play in winter, it will not be a problem. How can people go to Qatar in 50-degree heat in June? Instead of stopping the season in May you play until June, then stop in December. Where's the problem?" said Platini.
Platini, one of the biggest advocates for the move, is favourite to take over from Sepp Blatter as president of FIFA.
