Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp was angered by a detective staring at him as he took the stand for the first time at his tax evasion trial.
Redknapp and former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric deny cheating the public revenue after £189,000 was transferred to Redknapp's Monaco bank account.
As he was giving evidence, Redknapp stopped and told Detective Inspector Dave Manley: "Mr Manley, will you please stop staring at me. I know you are trying to cause me a problem, okay."
The 63-year-old also told the court: "I have always paid my taxes. I've always gone to the best available people ... I have always paid too much tax rather than not enough."
The trial was adjourned until Thursday when Redknapp will continue giving evidence.
