Nice coach Claude Puel has said that his team deserved their 1-0 victory over struggling Sochaux.
Dario Cvitanich's first-half goal was enough to see Les Aiglons into 10th place in Ligue 1 after 14 games, with just three defeats all season.
Puel admitted that he was slightly frustrated his team did not win by more, but said that his focus is now on an important period in the season.
"I am pleased for the players because they gave a lot," said Puel. "The one snag is that we lacked that finishing touch going forward.
"It was important to win here, it proves that we are moving in the right direction.
"We have two big games ahead of us, including one at Montpellier [on Wednesday] where we will be looking to qualify for the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue."
Nice's next league game sees them host Paris Saint-Germain.
