Northampton Town today completed the signing of former striker Marc Richards after he turned down a new contract with Chesterfield.
Richards helped Chesterfield to the League Two title this season but appeared primarily from the bench and has chosen more football with Northampton next season.
The 31-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Sixfields, returning to the Cobblers nine years after he left the club.
He signed for them when he was 20 in 2003 and helped them reach the 2004 Division Three playoffs.
Richards scored eight league goals for Chesterfield in 2013-14, the first time in six seasons that he has failed to get into double figures.
