Northern Ireland's chances of reaching Euro 2012 have been dealt a blow after losing 1-0 to Serbia in Belfast.
The visitors controlled much of the first half and nearly went ahead when former Liverpool midfielder Milan Jovanovic hit the crossbar.
The Serbs, who had no fans present after a ban for misconduct in a previous game, created more chances after the break.
For all of their industry, they were eventually gifted a goal by the hosts after Steven Davis's backpass was intercepted by Marko Pantelic on 67 minutes before he rounded keeper Lee Camp to slot home.
Nigel Worthington's side are now third in Group C, seven points behind leaders Italy.
