Gus Poyet has agreed a deal to take charge of Real Betis.
Recent speculation claimed that the Uruguayan, who most recently had coached AEK Athens in Greece, was one of the frontrunners to fill the managerial void at Nottingham Forest.
However, Poyet has now signed a two-year deal with La Liga outfit Betis to replace Juan Merino.
Poyet, 47, has previous experience of Spanish football, having spent seven years with Real Zaragoza during his playing career.
