Forward Daryl Murphy has reportedly moved to the brink of leaving Newcastle United for Nottingham Forest.
The Republic of Ireland international was limited to just seven starts and eight substitute appearances in the Championship last season, but he still managed five goals for the Magpies as they won promotion to the Premier League.
However, he is now deemed surplus to requirements at St James' Park and according to the Nottingham Post, he could join Forest in the coming days.
It has been claimed that talks and a medical are to be held ahead of a £2m switch to the East Midlands outfit, who only avoided relegation to the third tier on the final day of the last campaign.
Before his transfer to Newcastle, Murphy enjoyed a successful period with Ipswich Town where he scored 50 goals in 127 league outings between 2013 and 2016.
Birmingham City and Murphy's former club Sunderland had also allegedly registered an interest, but it appears that they will lose out to Forest.
