Nottingham Forest transfer news: Napoli, Roma among clubs 'interested' in star attacker

:Headline: Nottingham Forest transfer news: Napoli, Roma among clubs 'interested' in star attacker:
Napoli and Roma are reportedly among the clubs who are contemplating trying to sign one of Nottingham Forest's star players during the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest reportedly have a fight on their hands to retain the services of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

When Chelsea made the decision to cash in on the academy graduate in 2023, Forest were the beneficiaries as they secured a cut-price £3m deal.

On the back of his unproductive loan stint at Bayer Leverkusen, the England international has been able to kick-start his career at the City Ground.

A total of 13 goals and five assists have come from 57 appearances for Forest in the Premier League, with the 24-year-old playing a key role in helping transform the East Midlands outfit from relegation candidates to contenders for Champions League qualification.

However, as per Sky Sports News, it remains to be seen whether Hudson-Odoi will stay at the club in the long term.

Increasing interest in Hudson-Odoi

The report claims that Napoli and Roma are among the clubs who are contemplating whether to make an approach for the winger in the summer.

Two unnamed Premier League teams are also said to be monitoring the situation, with the outlet claiming that the player's contract is due to expire in June.

That suggestion is challenged elsewhere, the previous belief being that Hudson-Odoi's deal runs until 2026, but either way, Forest are aware that they need to act.

Club officials are said to have held initial discussions with the player's representatives to gauge whether he is ready to commit his future to Forest.

With the team battling it out for a place in Europe, it is plausible to expect any decision to be made after the end of the campaign.

European temptation?

Hudson-Odoi discovered at Leverkusen that going abroad does not suit everyone having quickly fallen down the pecking order at the Bundesliga side.

On the flip side, numerous British players have succeeded at Napoli and Roma in recent years, including Billy Gilmour, Scott McTominay and Chris Smalling.

Whether regular football is likely will play its part. In terms of game time, Hudson-Odoi is enjoying the best period of his career and may be against taking any risks at this stage.

He also has the option of waiting until later in the year to decide on his next move, aware that other European clubs may enter the race if he can maintain his current output.
