Bundesliga side Nuremberg have extended the contracts of head coach Michael Wiesinger and his assistant Armin Reutershahn.

Both men were given short-term deals after taking over from Dieter Hecking earlier in the season, but will now stay until the summer of 2015.

"In December, we put a great amount of thought into who the best solution for FC Nuremberg was following Dieter Hecking's departure to Wolfsburg," sporting director Martin Bader is quoted by Bundesliga.com as saying.

"We have made the right decision with Michael Wiesinger and Armin Reutershahn. They have worked well with the players to have an excellent second half of the season, and it's a logical step to that we continue working with this setup."

Wiesinger was equally pleased with the deal and said that he hoped to improve on the side's respectable finish of 10th in the league.

"We've been on the right track with the team over the past months," he said. "I'm confident that Armin and I will be able to successfully continue applying the philosophy of this traditional club. The contract extension is a sign of the faith that the board has in our work as a management team."

Nuremberg finished the season with a 3-2 win over Werder Bremen.
