A goal in the final minute of normal time from Matias Silvestre has earned Palermo a 4-4 home draw against Chievo.
The home side were handed a brilliant opportunity to open the scoring in the tenth minute after Luca Rigoni was adjudged to have fouled Giulio Migliaccio inside the penalty area.
Miccoli stepped up to take the spot kick and he calmly stroked the ball past Stefano Sorrentino to give his side the lead.
Chievo were clearly rocked by the early setback and they found themselves two behind before the 20-minute mark.
Migliaccio rose highest to head the ball into Miccoli's path and the striker fired his shot past a helpless Sorrentino for his second of the match.
The visitors were awoken by Miccoli's second goal and started to assert themselves in the match before being rewarded in the 27th minute.
Eros Pisano was found guilty of hand ball inside the box and Sergio Pellissier converted the penalty to give Chievo a lifeline.
Palermo were shocked just three minutes later as Chievo drew level when Fernando Uribe pounced on a loose ball to smash his shot past Emiliano Viviano.
The hosts survived until the break but were behind just a minute after the restart when substitute Luciano collected a pass from Uribe before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Chievo put themselves further ahead with 20 minutes remaining as Pellissier fired past Viviano for his second of the game to make the score 4-2.
However, Miccoli gave his side hope just three minutes when he completed his hat-trick by smashing his shot into the top corner following a brilliant pass by Massimo Donati.
As the game entered its final minutes Chievo looked to have secured the victory until Miccoli crossed in a teasing ball for Silvestre to finish from close range and earn his side a point.
