Port Vale's administrators have revealed that the stricken club will stay afloat for at least the coming season.
Port Vale entered administration in March and have yet to agree a takeover deal, but Begbies-Traynor have confirmed that the players have been offered contracts to fulfil a season of football.
"What we have done is offer the players contracts until the end of the season, so we are committed to play all of the fixtures," Boy Young, a director at the firm told BBC Stoke.
"If we haven't achieved a sale by the end of this coming football season, clearly we're not going to achieve a sale and, in those circumstances at that stage, we'd have to close the football club down."
A proposed takeover by Keith Ryder is still on the cards but talks have reportedly stalled in recent weeks.
