Paris Saint-Germain's first Ligue 1 game of 2022 sees them make the journey to the Groupama Stadium to face an out-of-sorts Lyon side on Sunday night.
Mauricio Pochettino's men are 13 points clear at the top of the table and recently saw off Vannes OC in the Coupe de France, with Kylian Mbappe netting an 18-minute hat-trick on the day.
The 22-year-old has confirmed that any move to Real Madrid will not take place in January, and his 18 goals and 17 assists in all tournaments have been invaluable to Les Parisiens this term.
Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Mbappe's record against Lyon ahead of Sunday's game.
Mbappe has faced Lyon 11 times down the years since his inaugural appearance against Les Gones in the 2016-17 season, during which he only came on for the final 13 minutes of that 3-1 defeat.
However, the former Monegasques starlet ensured that Lyon would become victims of his breakthrough season later that year, netting his side's second in a 2-1 win at the Groupama Stadium in April 2017.
That strike would mark the first of his 11 goals against Lyon so far, but he failed to score or assist against Les Gones during his debut season with PSG in the 2017-18 Ligue 1 campaign.
The World Cup winner would soon rectify that with a barnstorming showing at the Parc des Princes in October 2018, scoring four of his side's goals and assisting Neymar for the other in a 5-0 thumping of Bruno Genesio's men, with both sides ending the first half with 10 men.
PSG once again exposed Lyon's defensive frailties in a 4-2 home win in the 2019-20 season, during which Mbappe scored his side's second goal after missing the 1-0 win at the Groupama Stadium due to a hamstring injury.
Mbappe was also on target twice for PSG when they ended up on the correct scoreline of another six-goal thriller away from home last term, and he assisted Mauro Icardi's last-gasp winner in September's 2-1 success.
Away from Ligue 1, the Frenchman bagged a hat-trick against Lyon in the semi-finals of the 2019-20 Coupe de France but was forced to miss the penalty shootout win in the Coupe de la Ligue later that year due to an ankle issue.
Only against Ligue 2 outfit Dijon (12) has Mbappe scored more against than Lyon (11), and no player has found the back of the net more times against Les Gones in the 21st century than the 22-year-old, who will hope for another field day at the weekend.
