Beckham begins ambassadorial role in Beijing

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham has begun his new role as ambassador for Chinese football by visiting Beijing.

The 37-year-old agreed to take on the global position two months after joining Ligue 1 club PSG on a deal that runs to the end of the season.

The ex-England captain, who visited some local schools in the capital, will be responsible for raising the profile of Chinese football.

The former Los Angeles Galaxy star will also attend Super League matches during his visit.
