Gary Neville has claimed that David Beckham has been one of England's most influential players of the last 20 years.
Beckham, who played alongside Neville with Manchester United and England, announced earlier that he will be retiring from professional football at the end of this season.
When asked about Beckham's influence in world football, Neville told Sky Sports News: "When you think about the way football has changed over the last 22 years, Beckham has been probably the most influential player of that time out of England in terms of transforming football.
"To go and play in Madrid, Milan, Paris and Los Angeles, he's transported England around the world as well.
"I think that is something he is aware of and something he always wanted to do. The impact that he's had is enormous."
Beckham played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain during a 20-year career.
