Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has rubbished reports claiming that Kylian Mbappe is unhappy at the Parc des Princes.

The 23-year-old was widely expected to join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with his previous PSG deal due to expire at the end of the 2021-22 season.

However, Mbappe ultimately elected to pen a lucrative new contract at the Parc des Princes, keeping him on the books for another three years until 2025.

Mbappe has starred in a fearsome front three with Lionel Messi and Neymar this term, but reports last month stated that he believed his renewal to have been a "mistake".

The France international supposedly felt betrayed over promises made during his renewal that were not fulfilled, and he wanted to leave as a result.

Mbappe - who is also alleged to have a frosty relationship with teammate Neymar - was booed at the Ballon d'Or awards in Paris last month over his apparent desire to leave, but Galtier is confident that the striker's heart belongs at PSG.

Asked about Mbappe's situation in an interview with Marca, Galtier said: "When a player is happy in a place, he has no reason to leave. To be happy you have to enjoy.

"From the moment that the player enjoys himself on the field and that he feels that he is in a team that can win and that can conquer great challenges, he has no reason to leave.

"I think it was not the money. Because world-class players whether in Spain, England or France win it. They are not for the money. I think Kylian simply loves PSG. If he's happy, why shouldn't Kylian be here next season?"

Mbappe has totalled 19 goals and five assists from 20 games in a PSG shirt this season, taking his total for the Ligue 1 champions to 190 strikes and 93 assists in 237 games since 2017.

The former Monaco starlet was on target as France opened their World Cup defence with a 4-1 win over Australia on Tuesday, his 29th international goal in 60 appearances.

Mbappe is not the only PSG attacker facing an uncertain future, as Messi could leave as a free agent at the end of the season, but PSG are keen to tie him down to fresh terms.

When asked about the future of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, Galtier was not as confident in his answer, responding: "There are many parameters.

"The first thing is your desire. Do you want to continue at PSG? Are you happy here? The first thing to know is if he wants to continue. All these types of decisions are made between the player and Luis Campos."

PSG entered the World Cup break five points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table and will take on Strasbourg in their first top-flight game back on December 28. body check tags ::
