Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos has insisted that Kylian Mbappe did not ask for Neymar to be sold during the recent transfer market.
Over the summer, it was claimed that Mbappe wanted Neymar to leave the French champions, and there was a host of speculation surrounding the latter's future ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
However, Campos has denied that Mbappe ever expressed a desire for his teammate to depart, while he also said that the Brazil international had "never been on the transfer list".
Neymar has been in impressive form for his French club during the current season, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists in 10 appearances in all competitions.
The 30-year-old still has another two years left to run on his deal in Paris, with the option of another year, and Campos is confident that the Brazilian has now moved on from a difficult 2021-22 season.
"Neymar has never been on the transfer list. It is false that Mbappe asked for his departure. Neymar is a very good player. We have him, as with Messi and Mbappe," Campos told RMC Sport.
"Last season was difficult for him, with injuries. But now he is fine. He is always on time, he hasn't missed any training sessions, except one with a bit of pain.
"Neymar is involved in the project of the team and the club. He is a responsible boy. The whistles from the fans in the stands a few months ago? I believe that time will heal all wounds."
Campos also opened up on the arrival of Christophe Galtier as head coach, insisting that the 56-year-old was always his first choice despite the availability of Zinedine Zidane.
"Zidane? It is always very important to understand the context. When the president invited me to take this position, the first thing I did was call Christophe Galtier, even before calling my wife and my mother. I told the president that he was the best option," he said.
"I know his values, his capabilities, what he can contribute. We can do a great job together. We have a great mission. When the sports director is in good contact with the coach, we save a lot of time.
"In a club like this, you have to win quickly. And to win quickly, you have to have the right people around you. I have always gotten along well with Christophe Galtier.
"He was the first person I called after my meeting with the president. I don't know what the club did before, or what negotiations there were from Qatar. But for me it was clear."
PSG are currently top of the Ligue 1 table, boasting 19 points from their opening seven matches of the season, while they have won their opening two matches of the 2022-23 Champions League campaign against Juventus and Maccabi Haifa. body check tags ::
