Bilel Mohsni has been charged with "excessive misconduct" by the Scottish Football Association following Rangers' defeat to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership playoff final second leg.
The defender will serve a minimum four-match ban after he was sent off for kicking and punching Motherwell's Lee Erwin during the Gers' 3-0 loss at Fir Park on Sunday.
Mohsni also scuffled with other Motherwell players, including Fraser Kerr.
Rangers condemned Mohsni's actions before confirming that the 27-year-old's contract would not be renewed by the club.
Mohsni has until 3pm on June 9 to respond to the complaint.
Meanwhile, Motherwell duo Lionel Ainsworth and Craig Moore have both accepted two-game suspensions for their part in the scuffle.
