Rangers chairman Dave King has said that he expects it to take five years before the truth is revealed regarding former owners Craig Whyte's and Charles Green's time at the club.
The pair were charged over fraudulent acquisition of Rangers in 2012 and an investigation is ongoing.
"I have some experience of lengthy, complex litigation and I think this will run for quite a few years," King told the Daily Record.
"I'd imagine a lot of parties will now be looking at civil litigation. I really see this being tied up for a number of years.
"I don't think it could possibly happen in two – I would say it will be closer to five. We believe that if anything is found to be untoward, they should be held accountable."
Rangers were put into administration, and then liquidated, during Whyte's time in charge of the club.
