Glasgow Rangers have informed a court in Edinburgh that they are prepared to enter administration today.
However, the club will only do so if a judge grants them permission to appoint their own administrator.
HM Revenue and Customs have moved to counteract the Gers' wishes, insisting that they want to select who will take charge of the day-to-day running of the club.
Rangers submitted their intention to go into administration yesterday afternoon, while HMRC added their request this morning.
A verdict is likely to be made later this afternoon.
