Rangers saw off Premier League Leaders Motherwell 2-0 at Ibrox this evening to progress to the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock in an evenly-matched first period, but Lee McCulloch headed the Third Division team in front early in the second.
Dean Shiels extended the hosts' advantage just six minutes later when he struck a low volley past Darren Randolph between the Motherwell sticks from 12 yards out.
The visitors' best chance to pull a goal back came on the hour mark when Tom Hateley forced Rangers keeper Neil Alexander into a reaction save, but Ally McCoist's side looked otherwise comfortable throughout.
Aberdeen also progressed to the quarter-finals in tonight's other game, with a dramatic injury time goal from Scott Vernon handing them a 1-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic.
