Rangers are preparing to offer 35-year-old John Eustace a two-year contract, according to reports.
The former Derby County midfielder has been on trial at the Glasgow club for three weeks, and the Daily Record claims that he could be installed as Gers captain this season.
"John has trained well and he had his most intense session yet last Tuesday. He has joined the group on Monday and it is great to see," manager Mark Warburton told reporters.
"John is a very talented player and a model professional off the pitch. He would be a great leader for us, along with the likes of Kenny Miller, Cammy Bell and Lee [Wallace]."
Eustace has played 434 matches for seven clubs throughout his 17-year career.
