Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Sunderland.
Waghorn began his professional career at the Stadium of Light, but the 27-year-old went on to make just eight appearances for the Black Cats in all competitions.
However, in a two-year spell with Rangers, Waghorn has netted 44 goals in all competitions and according to The Mirror, that has led to interest from the North-East outfit.
New boss Simon Grayson is currently looking to strengthen his forward line, and their lack of depth in the area was shown in a 5-0 defeat to a second-string Celtic side at the weekend.
Rangers are unlikely to want to sell their leading marksman, but with just 12 months remaining on his contract they will have a decision to make regarding his future should Sunderland come calling.
On Friday night, Sunderland get the new Championship season underway with a home fixture against Derby County.
