Andrew Taylor: 'Friendship counts for little on Cardiff City return'

Reading full-back Andrew Taylor says that he is 'relishing' the chance to take on some of his former Cardiff City teammates in this weekend's Championship clash.

Andrew Taylor has insisted that the "fond memories" from his time at Cardiff City will count for little this weekend when Reading visit South Wales.

The 29-year-old spent three seasons with the Bluebirds, helping the club on their way to promotion in 2012-13 before falling somewhat out of favour the following year.

Taylor will now head back to his former side on Saturday afternoon as part of Reading's travelling party, claiming that picking up all three points is all that is on his mind.

"I had three good years at Cardiff - I really enjoyed my time and it was quite successful, apart from the relegation from the Premier League," he told the Royals' official website. "I have very fond memories of the city, the people in the area and the people who work at the club.

"There are still quite a few of the boys there which I spent three good years with. But it's a game of football - I'll chat and say hello, but as soon as the whistle goes, you want to win for your team.

"It can be a little bit weird at first - the first time I played against Middlesbrough was a bit daunting really because I didn't know what to expect. But I've had it a few times now where I've played against previous clubs. It's something you get used to and something you relish."

Taylor, who made more than a century of appearances for Cardiff, left the club in 2014 to join Wigan Athletic.
