Reading midfielder Danny Guthrie has apologised for not travelling with the squad for Tuesday's Premier League match at Sunderland.
Guthrie has reportedly been fined two weeks' wages by the Royals after claiming that his "head wasn't right" to take part in the game.
"I hold my hands up and apologise. It's something that we will deal with internally," the 25-year-old told the Reading Post.
"There's no problem with anyone. I have my reasons for what happened, it shouldn't have happened, but it did. My head just wasn't right.
"I've never had problems anywhere I have been and I just want to get back to playing football. This is a very rare situation for me."
Reading went on to lose the game 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.
