Reading chairman John Madejski has claimed that Brian McDermott's common sense is a key factor behind the club's successful promotion bid.
McDermott's team secured promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday through their 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, and Madejski believes that the former scout deserves much of the praise.
"We have a terrific manager and what I like about Brian is that he has such common sense and understands his squad," the chairman said.
"He knows the business, he knows the club. It is remarkable what he has achieved.
"It is tough at the top in terms of being the manager but I am over the moon with what Brian has achieved."
