Reading manager Brian McDermott has claimed that Manchester City's winner should not have stood following his side's 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Gareth Barry rose above Nicky Shorey to head in with 92 minutes on the clock, but McDermott believes that the City midfielder should have been penalised by referee Mike Dean.
"It is just plain wrong and poor," the Royals boss told the club's official website.
"I spoke to the referee and he said Barry hung in the air. Well you can hang in the air all day if you're on someone's back.
"I simply cannot get my head around why that is not given as a foul, it's ridiculous. It's such a crucial part of the game and he's a referee with a real experience."
The defeat has seen Reading stay at the bottom of the Premier League table with 10 defeats from their first 18 matches.
