Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is expecting to have Karim Benzema fit and available for Sunday's Madrid derby with Atletico Madrid at Bernabeu.
The France international was absent against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday due to the hamstring problem that forced him off against Real Sociedad in the league last weekend.
A recent report claimed that Benzema was hopeful of being able to shake off the issue in order to lead the Real Madrid line against the reigning Spanish champions this weekend.
Ancelotti has now provided a positive update on the 33-year-old, with the Los Blancos manager confident that the team's leading scorer will be able to recover for the derby.
"We have days to see if Karim can recover, I believe that he will," Ancelotti told reporters.
Benzema has been in excellent form at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 17 times and providing eight assists in 20 appearances in all competitions. body check tags ::
