Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has backed Gareth Bale to retire at the Bernabeu after he signed a new long-term contract.
On Sunday, Real announced that the Welshman had committed his future to the La Liga giants until 2022, and Calderon says that the developments are "very good news" for the club.
Calderon told BBC Sport: "This extension is very good news for Real Madrid. Fans love him. He was very humble when he came. Everyone expected a lot from him, he gave that.
"He helped us to win the Champions League. He's playing very well. Last season was perfect. He can be a player forever with Real Madrid. He can retire here."
Bale has scored 50 goals in 90 La Liga fixtures since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in September 2013.
