Barcelona will reportedly continue to pursue the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland this summer, however they believe that completing a deal will be 'very difficult' to achieve.
The Catalan club's newly-elected president Joan Laporta met with Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and his father Alf-Inge Haaland last Thursday to discuss a potential transfer to Camp Nou.
Even though Laporta left the meeting committed to try to sign the Norwegian, according to ESPN, Barcelona's financial situation is likely to impede any potential transfer.
The current debts at the Spanish giants have risen over £1bn and the club need to reduce their wage bill in order to free up funds for transfers this summer.
Barca would have to sell several first-team players for sizeable fees to even consider signing Haaland, who is currently valued by Dortmund at around £150m.
La Liga rivals Real Madrid also held talks with Haaland's representatives last week to discuss a potential transfer for the striker, who is believed to have a £65m release clause that can be activated in 2022.
The 20-year old has made 32 appearances in all competitions for the German club so far this campaign, scoring a remarkable 33 goals and providing eight assists. body check tags ::
