Real Madrid transfer news: Los Blancos 'handed' major Alphonso Davies boost

:Headline: Real Madrid transfer news: Los Blancos 'handed' major Alphonso Davies boost:
Real Madrid are reportedly becoming increasingly confident of signing Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies on a free transfer.

Discussions between Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich over a new contract are allegedly 'non-existent', with the Canada international widely expected to leave Allianz Arena on a free transfer next year.

Davies' future was the subject of speculation during the recent transfer window, but the market closed with the left-back still with the Munich giants.

Real Madrid are believed to lead the race for the 23-year-old, who only has a contract with Bayern until next summer, and according to Relevo, Los Blancos are confident of signing him on a free transfer in 2025.

The report claims that talks over a possible new deal with his current side are 'non-existent', and Bayern have started to 'give up' hope when it comes to convincing him to sign an extension.

Real Madrid allegedly did not submit an offer during the recent market, as they were confident that the Canadian would be available on a free transfer 12 months later.

Real Madrid 'confident' of signing Davies on a free transfer

A number of Premier League clubs are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, as Davies would be able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign team at the start of 2025.

However, Real Madrid are said to be firmly at the head of the queue for the full-back, who is believed to favour a move to the Spanish and European champions over any other club.

Davies arrived at Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019, and he has represented the Munich giants on 200 occasions in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering 32 assists in the process.

This season, the Canadian has provided one assist in five appearances, playing the full 90 minutes in each of his side's last two matches against Dinamo Zagreb and Werder Bremen in the Champions League and Bundesliga respectively.

Alaba famously left Bayern for Real Madrid in 2021

David Alaba made 431 appearances for Bayern before deciding against renewing his contract with the German outfit in order to seek pastures new, and he arrived at Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.

Antonio Rudiger is another example of how Los Blancos have used the free transfer market to bring in a top-quality player, with the Germany international joining following his release from Chelsea in 2022.

The most famous example occurred this summer, though, with Kylian Mbappe arriving on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in one of the most spectacular deals of all time.

Mbappe has scored six times and registered one assist in his first eight appearances for Real Madrid, including four goals and one assist in six La Liga outings. body check tags ::
