Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is reportedly giving serious consideration to leaving Bernabeu this summer in order to make a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

The Croatia international was again a vital player for Los Blancos during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 52 occasions in all competitions, scoring six goals and registering six assists in the process.

Various reports have claimed that the 37-year-old has already come to an agreement with Real Madrid to extend his contract at the club for a further 12 months.

However, Modric is now said to be seriously considering departing when his contract expires at the end of the month, with a switch to Saudi Arabia becoming a realistic option.

According to COPE, the experienced midfielder is currently weighing up a move to Saudi Arabia and could potentially make a final decision 'in the next few days'.

Jude Bellingham is preparing to arrive at Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund, while Eduardo Camavinga is expected to be primarily used as a central midfielder next season, which could make it difficult for Modric to secure regular action at this late stage of his career.

The Croatian has been vital to the team's success in recent years, featuring on 488 occasions for the club since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, scoring 37 goals and registering 77 assists.

Modric has won three La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey crowns, three Spanish Super Cups, five Champions League titles, four UEFA Super Cups and five Club World Cups during a glittering career in Madrid.

According to journalist Romain Molina, Qatari outfit Al-Sadd are also showing a strong interest in the midfielder, offering him the chance to earn a huge payday in the latter stages of his career.

Molina claims that there could also be the opportunity for Modric to take over as head coach when he decides to officially retire as a professional footballer.

The alleged deal would be similar to the one handed to now Barcelona head coach Xavi, who finished his playing career at Al-Sadd before taking charge of the club.

Al-Ahli are thought to lead the Saudi Arabian interest, but a number of other clubs are also said to be keeping a close eye on his situation in the Spanish capital.

Cristiano Ronaldo famously moved to Al-Nassr at the start of the career after leaving Manchester United, while Karim Benzema has left Real Madrid this summer to make the switch to Al-Ittihad.

There had also been huge Saudi Arabian interest in Lionel Messi, but the Argentine has decided to make the move to MLS outfit Inter Miami this summer.
