Lyon are set to launch a charm offensive for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as they look to lure him back to France, according to a report.
The 32-year-old is currently the top scorer in La Liga after scoring 10 goals in the opening 14 matches of the season and his current deal at the Bernabeu runs until summer 2021.
Benzema left Lyon for Madrid in 2009 for £25m and he has since gone on to become the sixth-highest scorer in the history of the Spanish club, netting 226 times in 442 appearances.
Lyon have been interested in bringing him back for more than a year with AS now reporting that the French side are planning to step up their pursuit in the coming weeks.
It is believed that the club would want Benzema to take up a two-year playing contract before then moving into a coaching capacity where he could work with their renowned youth academy.
