Miralem Pjanic has poured cold water on suggestions that he could swap Roma for Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
It is understood that Los Blancos are interested in signing the 25-year-old and had hoped to entice the Bosnia-Herzegovina international to the Bernabeu when the winter transfer window opens for business next month.
However, Pjanic, who is contracted to his current club until 2018, has claimed that it is "impossible" for him to depart Roma at the mid-point of the season.
"Real Madrid interest? I am focused on Roma at the moment. We are still fighting for the Scudetto and have the Champions League round of 16 coming up. That's why leaving Roma is impossible right now," Pjanic told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Pjanic's agent Michael Becker has also been quoted as saying that he 'does not know' where the Real Madrid rumours have come from.
