Real Madrid stalwart Lucas Vazquez is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract.

Barring a brief spell with Espanyol, Vazquez has spent the majority of his senior career as a Real Madrid player after joining the club as a 16-year-old in 2007.

During his long association, the 32-year-old has made 348 competitive appearances, registering 36 goals and providing 65 assists.

Vazquez has claimed 17 trophies in his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, including four La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.

As it stands, the Spaniard will be free to leave the Spanish giants when his contract expires at the end of next month.

Vazquez close to extending until 2025

However, according to Marca, Real Madrid are on the verge of agreeing a new deal to extend Vazquez's lengthy stay with the club.

With Carlo Ancelotti keen to retain Vazquez's services, the report claims that the versatile full-back is set to pen a contract to keep him at the club until June 2025.

Vazquez started his career as a winger, but he has since been converted into a right-back to add further strength in depth to the Real Madrid squad.

Although he is not a guaranteed starter, Vazquez continues to play a useful role in the squad, having proven to be a reliable option when called upon.

Vazquez has featured in 37 competitive matches this season, contributing to Real Madrid's attacking efforts with three goals and eight assists.

Real Madrid's out-of-contract stars

Los Blancos already know that they will lose the services of Toni Kroos when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Rather than signing a new deal, the German midfielder has decided to call time on his playing career following Euro 2024.

While Kroos will depart, experienced midfielder Luka Modric is widely expected to sign a new contract to extend his 12-year stay with the club.

Nacho Fernandez previously indicated that he would leave when his deal runs out this summer, but there is a possibility that he could decide to reverse his original decision.

After winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid will look to claim another piece of silverware when they face Dortmund in the Champions League final. body check tags ::
