Real Madrid have reportedly emerged as surprise contenders to sign Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko in this summer's transfer window.
The 26-year-old, who impressed during France's run to the final of Euro 2016, is widely expected to leave Newcastle this summer following their relegation to the Championship.
Last week, the midfielder revealed that he wanted to stay in English football, but would be open to the challenge of moving abroad if he could "play with big players and in top-level matches".
According to Chronicle Live, Real Madrid are looking for a cheaper alternative to Juventus's Paul Pogba this summer and are considering launching a move for the powerful midfielder.
Sissoko is said to be valued in the region of £35m by his current club.
