Real Madrid 'must sell before they can buy this summer'

Real Madrid must offload a number of players before they can make any new signings this summer, according to a report.

Real Madrid will reportedly have to do away with several players before they can add to their ranks this summer.

Los Blancos are widely expected to wrap up the signature of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and are also regarded as one of the frontrunners for Erling Braut Haaland.

While Haaland is understood to possess a €80m (£67m) release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract, the Norwegian's salary and agent fees for Mino Raiola would significantly bump up the price.

According to Marca, manager Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez recently held a meeting over summer transfer plans and agreed that there will have to be outgoings before any new signings can be made.

The report adds that Real are hopeful of garnering close to €100m (£82.8m) for the exits of Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco, while Takefusa Kubo, Reinier and Brahim Diaz could also head elsewhere after the conclusion of their loan spells.

The injury-plagued Eden Hazard has also been linked with a move elsewhere, but the Belgium international is supposedly keen to stay at the Bernabeu this summer.
