Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek is reportedly still on Real Madrid's transfer shortlist this summer.
The 22-year-old scored 17 times and contributed 13 assists in 57 appearances for Ajax last season as the Dutch giants won a league and cup double, in addition to reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Madrid were linked with a move for the Netherlands international earlier this summer, but it had been thought that their interest had cooled, with Manchester United's Paul Pogba a leading target.
According to De Telegraaf, though, Madrid have never dropped their interest in Van de Beek and will move for the Dutchman if Pogba does not arrive at the Bernabeu before the end of the transfer window.
Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo have all joined Zinedine Zidane's side this summer.
Los Blancos have struggled for results during pre-season, though, and suffered a shock 7-3 defeat to bitter rivals Atletico Madrid towards the end of last month.
